Comic
I've been having a very good and very busy time lately. Been doing the webcomic, reading articles, doing new stuff. For instance, playing World in Conflict online. Excellent game. Some highlights from playing it on Sunday:
Men grimly holding on to their position in a fortified building as the streets filled with fire around them from what I believe to have been two simultaneous heavy artillary barrarges.
Soldiers taking cover in the stand of trees, firing at the aquatic transport that has just deployed a squad of infantry on the beach. Three helicopters hang in the sky over the water, machine guns blazing into the trees: a fourth lies broken on the sand, downed by a rocket from the shoulder of an enemy trooper. I feel a surge of satisfaction as the last trooper goes down, and swing my 'copters away.
One of those same helicopters, trailing smoke as it falls the long, long way down the cliff until reaching its final resting place in the waters at its base.
My infantry moving to another stand of trees for some cover. Watching as the enemy tank battalion comes into sight: sprinting for the trees as the tanks of my teammates roar forward, firing as they come, with my infantry trapped between the armored behemoths, sprinting for the trees and safety. They almost made it: the last trooper was slain by a sniper hiding in the very trees he was running towards. I dumped a load of napalm on the sniper in revenge.
A daisy-cutter bomb slowly dropping and destroying not only the enemy artillary but a couple of buildings that were too close.

As you might be able to see, I rather like this game. It's really fun--like a combination of Counterstrike and a cold-war RTS, if you know what I mean.

I've also started playing Urban Dead, a zombie apocolypse MMORPG. I've read a little about it and some of my friends play it, and what facinates me is that the city the game is based in has its own history and each locale has a distinct culture, all created by the players. Every zombie and human survivor is a player, and when they're let loose in a game like this what you apperantly get is things like the Siege of Caiger Mall and the Riddlybank Resistance Front. The game has a culture, which I find facinating.

So on Saturday Military Private Zemalac parachuted into the suburb of Roachtown, armed with a pistol, six bullets, and his wits. I quickly aquired a knife, two books (which I read), a first-aid kit, and an African painting. Dunno what I'm going to do with the painting. If I settle down in a specific section of the city maybe I'll start a gallery.
